Recording Studios in Bath

Recording Studios in Bath

It fills out hearts with pride, here at Singing Lessons Bath, when a vocal student of ours takes the leap into the studio. Recording your own vocal performances is a valuable exercise, teaching you not only the ins and outs of the creative process in its very essence, but honing vital tuning and projection techniques. We always encourage our vocal tutees to have a go at recording, even if just for the experience, so here’s a few recording studios in and around Bath that we really think give good service and value for money.

Stage 2 Studios boasts a whopping 2500 sqft of air conditions studio space, with a live room, control room, vocal both and 3 rehearsal rooms! What more could you want? Owner Ben Flitcroft and sound engineer Ben Turner have nearly 40 years of experience in the recording sector, so you should have no worries that your music is in good hands. Studio time is very reasonable at only £9 per hour and, for only that, you get all your equiptment thrown in. We think it’s a bargain? However, if you’d like to find out for yourselves, I’m sure the two Bens would be more than happy to welcome you to Unit 13 Brassmill Enterprise Centre, BA 1 3JN. Below is a great track by 'Montrose' which was recorded at Stage 2!

Riverside Studios prides itself on great value. Although not the cheapest studio to hire in this list, Riverside’s value really makes itself apparent when you hear who has recorded music there: Siouxsie Sioux, The Proclaimers, Bassment Jaxx, Ocean Colour Scene, Robert Plant (of Led Zepplin), Jeff Beck, Babyshambles, Goldfrapp, Rodriego Y Gabriella, the list goes on… At £300 per day of recording you can definitely find cheaper alternatives but if you’ve got the cash, look no further! Jog on down to Avondale Couchouse, London Road East, BA1 7RB to enquire further.

Stockerwick studios are probably the friendliest studio we know because their sounds engineers can’t help but get their hands dirty free of charge. If that wasn’t good enough for you, recording at Stockerwick can only be described as an ‘absolute steal’ at only £140 per day. Per Day! Stockerwick, located at Shockerwick Ln, BA1 7LQ has proved popular for another reason: it offers classes to those who want them in DJ mixing and scratching, Logic Audio production, mixing and mastering and recording techniques for ensemble production. These courses tend to cost around £240, which sounds a lot, but for a life time’s worth of experience and knowledge we think its pretty reasonable.

Last but not least, the Session Rooms boasts the best location of any in this list, and possibly Britain. Its in the heart of the idyllic Cotswolds at a place called Crossways nr Monkton Combe and is about as romantic as it gets. But the romance doesn’t stop there. The Session Rooms specialises in analogue recording equipment, microphones and monitors, complemented by the most up-to-date recording techniques and software. The best of the old ways meets the new and the results can be very special indeed! If you’re going for a vintage blues/rock/jazz sound, this might well be the studio for you, but if you’re mostly computer-based, other studios may well suit you better.

Graham was willing to take me on with no ability at all but has now got me singing and enabled me to join a choir. It's a miracle!
